Grab your trench coats, people, because the vibe in London just got about ten times darker, Apple TV just released the trailer for Criminal Record Season 2, and it looks like a total fever dream for crime junkies, Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo are officially coming back to our screens on April 22, 2026, which is basically the best news we have heard all week. If you thought the first season was tense, you should probably prepare your nerves for this one. The new trailer gives us a glimpse into a plot that feels way too relevant. It all starts with a young man getting stabbed at a political rally, and before you can say “police procedural,” everything spirals into absolute chaos.
Rivalry, Revenge, and Really Bad Vibes
Our favorite bickering detectives are back, and their chemistry is still as icy as a London winter, Detective Sergeant June Lenker and Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty are forced into another “uneasy alliance,” which we all know is code for lots of intense staring and passive-aggressive comments, June is the senior officer on the scene when the stabbing happens, and she is feeling all the guilt for not preventing it, naturally, she turns to Hegarty, who is now a major player in the “shadowy world” of police intelligence.
The Conspiracy We Didn’t See Coming
Forget simple street crimes, because this season is going big. What starts as a search for a lone killer turns into a massive undercover operation. The goal? To stop a far-right bomb plot right in the middle of London, the trailer hints at a world where truth is basically a suggestion and the far-right conspiracy runs deeper than anyone expected. It is gritty, it is political, and it looks like it will keep us up way past our bedtimes.
Who Is Joining the Chaos?
While we are obsessed with the lead duo of Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, the cast list for Season 2 is looking pretty stacked, joining the regulars are:
