Godzilla and The Titans WandaVision Director Joins The Live-Action Series

There are movies that you watch for their cast, there are movies that you watch for their plot, and then there are films like Godzilla which you watch for a massive audio visual experience. Legendary and WB’s Monsterverse began back in 2014 with the arrival of Godzilla, which was a huge box office hit. That launched the current franchise which consists of Kong: Skull Island (2017), Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019), and Godzilla vs Kong (2021). The 2021 epic culminated the intense build up of 7 years in a satisfying VFX heavy action packed film. So, ever since its release fans have been asking just one question – Is Godzilla vs, Kong the last movie? Well, no it isn’t as Monsterverse is all set to return with a new Godzilla Live-Action TV series, Godzilla and the Titans.

What is the next Godzilla movie 2022?

The next production in the Monsterverse is Godzilla and The Titans which is all set to debut on Apple TV+ once it wraps production. The series’ pre-production has just begun so it would take at least a few years to create it. So, the expected Godzilla and The Titans release date is somewhere towards the end of 2024. There are two reasons for this, first is that filming hasn’t even begun yet and the second reason is being a series, it would take a lot of time to create smooth and good looking VFX.

Godzilla and the Titans will follow the story of our beloved Godzilla as well as the remaining Titans we saw at the end of Godzilla: King of Monsters (2019). Titans if you do not know, are very ancient creatures which have been shown throughout the Monsterverse and Godzilla is one of them. Kong isn’t considered a Titan though he was showcased to be as powerful as Zilla in Godzilla vs. Kong. As for the plot, we hope to see some good plot at last. Being a series, we expect plot to take prominence as opposed to  most of the films, where the plot was mostly monster bashing each other.

Godzilla and The Titans Director, Release and Plot

The latest news is that the live action series is moving forward according to the plans, and WB has nabbed Matt Shakman to direct Godzilla and The Titans. Matt Shakman rose to fame after he directed Disney Plus’ superhero series WandaVision. He received a Primetime Emmy (2021) nomination for the Best Director, and WandaVision went on to get nominated for 4 other Emmys as well.

That aside, he has also directed certain episodes Hulu’s “The Great”, HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” PrimeVideo’s “The Boys,” “Mad Men,” and “Fargo.” He is also going to direct the upcoming science fiction film “Star Trek 4” which would be a continuation of the reboot series featuring Chris Pine as Captain Kirk.

The plot details as mentioned by Variety are as follows:

“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”

As mentioned above, Godzilla and The Titans would release sometime in 2024.
