Now that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is here, gamers’ focus is already moving on towards what’s next. Wolverine is one such Marvel character who hasn’t had a good gaming run. While there have been a few Wolverine games over the years, they haven’t been particularly good and even so, the last one came out in 2009. Since then, we’ve seen the character only once as a side character in 2022’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns. So, in this modern era of gaming, it is about time we see a dedicated Wolverine game. As it happens, Insomniac has been working on Marvel’s Wolverine for a year or so now and it’s first teaser debuted back in 2021’s PlayStation Showcase. Since then, we’ve brought you a lot of unofficial updates and today’s update is about as official as it can get before Sony officially reveals mor info.

Marvel’s Wolverine PS5 Release Slate Leaked

Sony is to the gaming industry what Disney is to the Cinema industry. Not only is Sony’s PlayStation series the biggest in console market, Sony’s original games are some of the best games ever made with loads of Game Awards titles to their names. One of the most popular studio attached to PlayStation Studios is Insomniac Games Inc, who are the developers behind Ratchet and Clank series as well as the highly acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man series. But today, we are going to talk about their next highly anticipated game – Marvel’s Wolverine.

According to @DanielRPK, Marvel’s Wolverine is currently being targeted to launch on PlayStation 5 in 2025. RPK has had a number of accurate scoops in the past and this coincides with a lot of other leaks we’ve received so far. Also, 2025 release window makes a lot of sense given what we’ve learned about the game in the past. It was announced back in 2021 when it was still in the early stages and a four-year development cycle make complete sense. Also, considering the DLC rumours regarding Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, a 2024 Wolverine release chances look really slim.

Compared to Insomniac’s work on the Spider-Man series, Wolverine is said to be far more dark in tone. Additionally, the game will see players venturing to the island of Madripoor as Wolverine, which was something that was teased in the game’s first trailer. Outside of these broad details, very little remains known about Wolverine for the time being. In the following section you can learn all you need to know about the game!

Wolverine PS5: Plot, Gameplay, Crew and More

Insomniac Games developers are now moving from Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and onto Wolverine development in full swing. Moving on to the tone of the game, it has been described as an emotional narrative with cutting-edge gameplay. About the adventures, The Princess Bar (island of Madripoor) in the trailer hints that Logan may go on globe-trotting adventure, and nor restricted to Xavier’s Institute. Although it was earlier hinted that it would be a spin-off to the Marvel’ Spider-Man series, it is now said to be a stand-alone original universe like Insomniac’s Spider-Man games.

Reportedly, Insomniac’s goal is to not only respect the DNA of what makes the Logan so popular, but also look for opportunities to make it feel fresh and truly reflect the Insomniac spirit. Furthermore, the Creative Director of the game has been revealed to be Brian Horton and the role of Game Director has been taken on by Cameron Christian. Horton has been credited with franchises like Spider-Man series, Call of Duty, and Tomb Raider while Christian served as the Game Director for SM: Miles Morales, Design Director for Marvel’s Spider-Man, and has been credited with franchises like Call of Duty, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars.

Next, we have update with PS4 owners will not like, but definitely saw it coming – Marvel’s Wolverine will be a PS5 exclusive with no intention of being remastered for old gen. That is all for the official updates, and now we’re moving to the rumor territory. Biggest rumor is that Wolverine is aiming for M for Mature rating/tone which makes sense, given the character we are dealing with. Next it is said to be semi-open linear, similar in design to God Of War and the combat features dismemberment.
