With the deteriorating state of the DCEU, the film that was supposed to revolutionize and rejuvenate the DC universe was Black Adam. From the moment it was announced it was marketed as the Superhero film that the hour needs. Something that we had to see. The movie in my opinion had taken all the right calls, especially cast Dwayne Johnson as the titular character. Given the year that we’ve had where every superhero film has disappointed us except for The Batman, I was really looking forward to this film as I genuinely wanted to be enthralled by a superhero film, like I did when I was 16. I feel sad to say, Black Adam is not that film. It is not a revolution that the DCEU needs. Its quiet simply a film that is self aware and invests heavily in action sequences and doesn’t pay heed to its screenplay which is one of the weakest of the year.

The most disappointing part of the film was Dwayne Johnson himself as I’ve not seen a more one dimensional performance from him before. Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate was the absolute highlight of the film followed by Henry Cavill as Superman. Yes, Henry Cavill makes a proper cameo in the film in the post credit scene. However, as we know that definitely not the original plan. So, what was the original plan? Was there a post credit scene planned for Black Adam? If yes, what was it? Did it feature Superman or other Justice League members? Let’s find out.

Black Adam: Original Post Credit Scene Continues an Old DCEU Tradition!

I know we all cheered when we finally saw Henry Cavill don the Superman cape back after anticipating it for so many years. Black Adam’s post credit scene saw Amanda Waller sends a message to Black Adam that if he wishes not to be imprisoned then he should stay in Khandaq not move from there. Black Adam doesn’t believe anyone from Earth can harm him and that is where we see Henry Cavill’s superman and the scene ends with Superman wanting to talk. However, this was a very recent happening.

As up until reportedly July this year, Dwayne Johnson was having non-stop meetings with DC executives especially DC films head Walter Hamada for bringing back Henry Cavill as Superman. Hamada never agreed to this and finally The Rock had to go over his head to finally make this dream come true for fans. The cameo was shot very recently and this we got no news about Henry Cavill at the san Diego Comic Con this year. As part of an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Black Adam’s cinematographer Lawrence Sher revealed how Henry Cavill’s Superman cameo came to be.

While revealing details about the new post credit scene, she also revealed details of the original post credit scene that the film had. Apparently, The first version of the scene reportedly only showed Superman’s emblem and obscured his face as the Man of Steel stood before Black Adam. The original Black Adam post-credits scene was shot with a body double during reshoots and did not involve Cavill. So just like Shazam! (2019) and Peacemaker (2022) we were going to get another headless Superman cameo. How dare you DC!
