Black Adam is the infamous film that was made so that it could to revolutionize the DCEU. From the moment it was announced it was marketed as the Superhero film that the hour needs. Something that we had to see. The movie in my opinion had taken all the right calls, especially cast Dwayne Johnson as the titular character. Given the year that we’ve had where every superhero film has disappointed us except for The Batman, I was really looking forward to this film as I genuinely wanted to be enthralled by a superhero film, like I did when I was 16. I feel sad to say, Black Adam is not that film. It is not a revolution that the DCEU needs. Its quiet simply a film that is self aware and invests heavily in action sequences and doesn’t pay heed to its screenplay which is one of the weakest of the year.

The most disappointing part of the film was Dwayne Johnson himself as I’ve not seen a more one dimensional performance from him before. Pierce Brosnan’s Doctor Fate was the absolute highlight of the film followed by Henry Cavill as Superman. Yes, Henry Cavill makes a proper cameo in the film in the post credit scene. However, it was not easy making that happen. Even someone as The Rock had to struggle for this cameo. Let’s read the details of the same.

Black Adam: Why was Henry Cavill’s cameo not being Approved?

In a chat with Collider, on the eve when the film was released and everyone officially knew that there is in fact Superman in this one. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was asked how did he make this happen. After the donning the cape for Superman in 2013, Henry Cavill had last appeared in 2017’s Justice League (& 2021). The actor revealed that it was all about giving the fans what they wanted, but it was no easy task. He said, “It got to a point where collectively, I want to say myself, Dany and Hiram (Garcia), we said, ‘Here’s how the movie should end. And I’ll give you one further, test it, and if it doesn’t work, we’ll never talk about it again. Test it,'” Johnson explained. “We shot it, to their credit, new leadership. They saw it and said, ‘We don’t even have to test it.'”

Johnson has been teasing Henry Cavill’s return for a long time including in this year’s Comic Con.  At the time he said, “I will say, as you guys know, we’re all in deep in this mythology, and it’s been the age-old question of who would win in a fight between Black Adam or Superman? Pound for pound, they’re pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who’s playing Superman. I’ll just say that. I’ll leave it at that.”

After the film release, Johnson posted a cryptic note on Instagram where he appreciated the response that the film is getting and the actor got even more pointed regarding a Cavill Man of Steel appearance in an the post where he said, “I just saw the movie again last night. I can’t wait for you guys to see Black Adam…He is the most powerful and unstoppable force on this planet.” After adding consisting of “On this planet,” Johnson added a wink emoji to the camera which made fans truly believe that Cavill was reprising the role. Warner Bros. is reportedly made about this leak.

Black Adam is helmed by Jungle Cruise’s Jaume Collett-Serra, and will star Dwayne the Rock Johnson in the lead role of Black Adam. The supporting cast includes  Aldis Hodge (The Invisible Man, Underground) as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell (Trinkets, Euphoria) as Cyclone, Noah Centineo (To All the Boys I Love Before, Charlie’s Angels) as Atom Smasher, and Pierce Brosnan (GoldenEye, Mamma Mia!) as Doctor Fate, with Uli Latukefu, Marwan Kenzari, Mohammed Amer, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui have also been cast in currently unknown roles.
