The Batman 2 Gets A Promising Update! It Is Happening!

Let’s talk about the only superhero film of 2022 that was worth talking – Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Barring this, DC released just one other movie called Black Adam but we don’t have to talk about that. Coincidently, The Batman movie doesn’t belong to the DCU and exists in its own plain of existence. Take the hint DC, solo films are still popular. While I’m raving about the movie let me make it clear, when I watched the film for the first time I was like, “This is good but I’ve seen better. Maybe a 7/10. Definitely not close to Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.” However, as the year went by the trash that I’ve witnessed in the superhero genre has made me grateful for this film’s existence. A lot of it is credit to Matt Reeves who has previously directed films like modern Planet of the Apes series, Cloverfield and Let Me In.

In a pandemic stricken world as well, The Batman performed very well at the box office as it earned $770.8 Million worldwide. I like Robert Pattinson as the new Batman but I’d like if he plays a better Bruce Wayne. This is not my favorite iteration of Batman on-screen that is still a tie between Bale and Affleck, but this might be my favorite version of Gotham that I’ve seen. The film was an all out success for Warner Bros. so it was natural for us to assume we’ll see Pattinson’s Batman once again very soon. However, according to a recent reports regarding the sequel have been quite discouraging. Not to worry though, as director Matt Reeves has given us a positive update regarding the sequel.

The Batman 2 Is Alive!

In a recent interview with Collider for the 15th anniversary of Cloverfield, Matt Reeves was asked about his Batman sequel and he, in his own way gave us a very positive answer. The director said, “I’m not going to answer that question, but we are working on a movie. I’ll put it to you that way. We’re deep in it and my partner and I are writing, Mattson [Tomlin] and I are writing, and it’s really exciting, and I’m really excited about what we’re doing. I’m really excited to be doing that with Rob. I just think he’s such a special person and actor.”

In a previous interview Matt Reeves had confirmed that The Batman was originally to be part of the DCU however, Reeves didn’t want it to be as he needed to find a personal connection to the dark knight so that he can show us a version of Batman that we’ve not seen before. He didn’t want his iteration of Batman to be obliging to a universe which would drive the motivations of his characters and his arc will obliged to move according to move around this.

The Batman is reported to spawn other spin-off series as well and they will focus on the Arkham Asylum. The series recently brought on board Antonio Campos who directed The Devil All The Time as its showrunner, hinting that the series is in early development just like the other villain spin-off movies. Three movies are rumored to surround around Professor Pyg, Scarecrow, and Clayface and are reportedly in the early stages of development. As a result, these projects could premiere after The Batman 2 at the earliest.

The Batman is available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
