Marvel has dropped on us all the content they’re coming out within the next 3 years. On Day 2 of Comic Con we’d gotten a lot of confirmations to the things we were already suspecting and we definitely got some surprises. In the panel, Kevin Feigi walked up on the stage and re-announced the Blade movie. It was first announced at SDCC 3 years go, and we’ve been patiently waiting to hear more about it for a long time. We knew that Mahershala Ali is going to play the part but other than that, we never got any updates. But that was until now, as we now know when Blade is coming out and that it will be part of Phase 5.

Although, all these updates seem like a recap as they’re almost 3 months old. After the SDCC’22 Marvel panel we never got any updates on the Blade movie. Considering that the film is not that far away and knowing how Marvel likes to finish their film’s early, it was unusual for the film to not start shooting. Just last month I’d reported that Blade will go on floors from 5th October that’s like three days away from today. However, it seems like the movie is facing another delay due an unfortunate happening. Let’s see what happened.

Blade Movie’s Director Exit Leads To a Delay!

Just a week prior to the start date of the film, director Bassam Tariq has stepped down from the film due to “scheduling conflicts.” I don’t believe its true, the director is one of the most important people in a film, I’m not sure that Marvel won’t readjust shooting dates according to the director’s leisure. There is clearly more to this than they’re saying. The reason for my speculations is, if Marvel didn’t change shooting dates so as to not disrupt their Multiverse saga schedule then this recent update suggests a more severe fallout.

According to a recent update from a trustable source, Blade’s filming is all together delayed to next year. My Cosmic Circus’ Lizzie Hill posted that she’s heard January 2023 is the new target: “Heard January as I mentioned yesterday” @bigscreenleaks posted a similar report, saying Blade‘s start date has been “pushed back to at least the start of 2023:” “I’m hearing that BLADE’s start date was pushed back to at least the start of 2023. They’re searching for a director and hope to get the project off the ground again soon.”

As further evidence, Reddit user u/JediButterfly shared a Blade casting call stating applications are no longer being accepted as production dates have been pushed to the Spring of 2023. This is bad news given that the film comes out in the year’s November. If they don’t delay the film, then the post production will be rushed and that will only add to the complaints of the VFX artists regarding Marvel’s overbearing work profile. Considering all this, I think Marvel will delay the film that will disrupt their schedule even further, rendering this entire process futile. Tariq’s has more to it than you realize.

We don’t know whether the reboot will be R-Rated or not. The Blade movies in the 90s starring Wesley Snipes were R-Rated and fans seem to love them. They want this reboot to have the same vibes but again we can’t be sure of what Marvel will do. So far we have only heard Mahershala Ali’s voice as Blade at the end of Eternals. We don’t even have a single first look of him. The character was supposed to appear in Moon Knight but he didn’t.

Ali previously talked about his excitement regarding the character and Snipes legacy. The Oscar winning Actor said in a recent interview, “Well, only what I discovered, like everyone else in the late ’90s with Wesley Snipes, you know,” the two-time Oscar winner said regarding his knowledge of the Marvel character. “And … I don’t think I even noticed how, at least at that time, how I was just accustomed to there not being black superheroes.”

Marvel’s Blade Reboot is slated to release on November 3 2023
