Hollywood has been rendered still by the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. While the writer’s needs seems to have been met, the actors continue to fight along. Since, July 14th majority of the actors have stopped working in a movie or TV show that is of US origin. Naturally, some hugely anticipated movies are on an indefinite halt until the actors’ needs are fulfilled. Out of which, Deadpool 3 is probably the only Marvel movie that fans are truly excited about. The only reason fans have hopes from Deadpool 3 is because Ryan Reynolds won’t let his favorite character down. The filming for the Marvel blockbuster began this year where we got some leaks as well. However, ever since the strikes the film is production limbo. Even director Shawn Levy is unsure when they’d get back on the floor.

Deadpool 3 Is In Production Limbo!

Shawn Levy gave a disappointing update about his upcoming venture Deadpool 3 in a recent interview with The Wrap. The director was asked whether the threequel would manage to keep its scheduled release date or have the strikes affected the workflow. Levy was absolutely honest and shared his uncertainty about the Marvel project as well, “I wish I knew. I don’t even know if we officially have [a release date]. I know we were gonna be May 3,”. Levy revealed,“Certainly, the actors’ strike and the long pause in production have put that release date in true risk. We’ve shot half the movie. I’ve edited half the movie. We’re dying to get back to work and get this movie out next year.”

In an earlier interview Levy has mentioned how he has to adhere to industry standards and wait till the strikes are over to resume production. The filmmaker said, “Well, like the rest of our industry, or at least large swaths of it, we are paused. We were halfway through filming Deadpool, co-starring Wolverine. It was a joy every day, and that chemistry is, I have to say, spoiler alert, it is as relentlessly awesome as we had all hoped it would be,”. Levy revealed, “But we are halfway through filming, we shut down, our crew and the rest of us are awaiting a fair and equitable deal that ends these strikes and puts our industry and certainly inclusive of our movie back at work.”

Shawn Levy is directing Deadpool 3 from a screenplay he co-wrote with Rhett Rheese, Paul Wernick, Zeb Wells and Reynolds himself. This accounts Levy’s third collaboration with Reynolds after previously working on Free Guy and The Adam Project. The film’s supporting cast will include returning Deadpool cast Karan Soni as Dopinder, Morena Baccarin as Vanessa, Leslie Uggams as Blind Al, Stefan Kapičić as Colossus, Brianna Hildebrand as Negasonic Teenage Warhead, and Shioli Kutsuna as Yukio.

Deadpool 3 is slated to release on May 3rd 2024 in MCU’s Phase 6.
