Percy Jackson and the Olympians All Greek Gods Who Will Appear With Posters

Fantasy/Mythology lovers hear me and rejoice as Percy Jackson and the Olympians is all set to debut in a couple of months and the marketing is now in full swing. The television series has been created by Rick Riordan and Jonathan E. Steinberg for Disney+ and is based on the book series of the same name by Riordan. Of course, those who have seen the rather dull film series or read the books, knows what they are in for, However, for first timer mythology stans who are really excited about their favorite Gods showing up, following is a list of every confirmed God in Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 1. Have a look and enjoy!

Zeus

Zeus aka the king of Gods has had many depictions in pop culture ranging from evil to heroic and earnest to comical. From graphic novels and cinema to gaming and animation, Zeus is one character we have all encountered in some or the other form of media. He would play a major role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians as well and has been be portrayed by late Lance Reddick.

Poseidon

The God of Sea would play a major role in the upcoming series as well, cause he is the father of Percy Jackson. He’s the reason for his powers and although he will not be meeting Percy for a long time, he’ll keep a watchful eye on him. Toby Stephens has taken on the role of Poseidon in the upcoming series.

Hades

The God of the Underworld is often portrayed negatively in media and is usually depicted as a schemer with some ulterior motive. In Percy Jackson and the Olympians, Jay Duplass will play the role of Hades, and might prove to be a hinderance in Percy’s path. Although we do not expect a huge screen time for him, he’s surely going to play an important role in the story.

Ares

The God of War (no, not Kratos) is one of the most powerful Olympians in the saga. This son of Zeus is also often associated with scheming and wrongdoings as peace doesn’t bode well with him. That actually makes sense, since he is the God of War and is often seen plotting ways to spark conflicts among the Gods. Adam Copeland will be portraying Ares in the upcoming series.

Hephaestus

Also a son of Zeus, Hephaestus is the God of artisans, blacksmiths, carpenters, craftsmen, fire, metallurgy, metalworking, sculpture and volcanoes. Timothy Omundson will be playing Hephaestus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Although, he is a major God in mythology, we might not see a lot of him in the series.

Hermes

Hermes is considered the herald of the gods and the protector of human heralds, travelers, thieves, merchants, and orators. He is also the God of Speed and acts as a messenger between the Gods. Also, a Son of Zeus, Hermes will portrayed by Lin-Manuel Miranda in the Disney Plus series. Once again, he won’t have a huge role in Season 1 but would play a major one in the future of the series.

Dionysus

The god of wine and the head of Camp Half-Blood, Dionysus will be portrayed by Jason Mantzoukas in the new show. He is also the god of orchards and fruit, vegetation, fertility, festivity, insanity, ritual madness, religious ecstasy, and theatre. In mythology, he is a God who is loved by humans and Olympians alike, since he is majorly associated with celebration, arts, and culture. In the series, he serves as head of Camp Half-Blood and the guardian of the children.

Percy Jackson

Although he is not a part of Greek Mythology, but in the upcoming series Percy Jackson in a demi-god and the son of Poseidon. Being the lead character, he is obviously the center of attention of the show and will be portrayed by Walker Scobell. As the official synopsis reads, “Percy is coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god, Zeus, accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt; with his friend’s help, Percy must restore order to Olympus.”

Annabeth Chase

Leah Sava Jeffries portrays Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She is a daughter of Athena who has been training at Camp Half-Blood for five years. She would serve as one of the 3 main leads of the series and a friend of Percy Jackson. Once again, she is an original Demi-goddess character who isn’t mentioned in Greek Mythology.

Clarisse La Rue

Clarisse La Rue is a Greek demigod, a daughter of Ares, the Greek god of war. Dior Goodjohn will be portraying the daughter of Ares in Percy Jackson and the Olympians. She too is an original character and has no mention in the mythology. Little is known of Clarisse’s past except that she is from Phoenix, Arizona, and was brought to camp by the satyr Gleeson Hedge.

Luke Castellan

Luke Castellan is also an original Greek demigod, the son of Hermes and May Castellan. He is going to be one of the main antagonists of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. Charlie Bushnell is going to be portrayed Luke Castellan in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.

Medusa

Although, not a Goddess, Medusa is a major character in Greek Mythology which most of us are aware of. The most famous, powerful and lethal of the 3 Gorgons, Medusa’s snake hair and stone turning stare instantly made her a pop culture icon. Jessica Parker Kennedy will portray the role of Medusa in the upcoming series, and of course, the role is not expected to be a positive one.

Aside from the confirmed Gods mentioned above, we expect Queen of Olympus Hera, Goddess of War Athena, and God of Sun Apollo to make an appearance in the series as well. The eight-episode first season of Percy Jackson is scheduled to premiere on December 20 only on Disney Plus.
