Madame Web is an upcoming superhero film that focuses on the powerful clairvoyant of the same name. She is one of the many Marvel Spider-Man characters that are under Sony’s control. As the studio can’t ruin Spider-Man anymore, they’ve made it their ambition to ruin all the other Marvel characters. They started with Venom (a sequel, part three loading), then Morbius, Kraven the Hunter (not released) and now Madame Web. Just like all the other movies in this universe, there is a star studded cast to steady the ship, however, they will inevitably prove ineffective. Well, if you’re one of the few people who still care about this inconsequential affair and want to know whether to stick around till the end of credits, then keep reading below.

Is There A Tobey Maguire In Post Credit of Madame Web?

The concept of post credit scenes was started by Marvel Studios in modern cinema. Giving the audience just one more nugget of the film that teases about the upcoming developments in the franchise. After Marvel, DC also followed the trend and soon post credit scenes became a norm in the superhero genre.

However, recently many mainstream Hollywood franchises have also adopted this tradition with Fast X having a post-credits scene where we saw Luke Hobbs’ return. Transformers: Rise of the Beasts added a mid-credits too in order to revive Mirage. There are still some franchises which opt against the trope. For instance, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse didn’t have a post-credits, for example.

Just like Across the Spider-Verse, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One and Meg 2: The Trench, The Equalizer 3 A Haunting In Venice The Creator and The Exorcist: Believer, Madame Web doesn’t have a post credit scene. You might have heard rumors about Tobey Maguire Spider-man being a part of Madame Web’s post credit scene, but that is surely not the case. Not having a post-credits scene allows the franchise to evolve naturally and make corrections based on the reception.

Considering what a critical debacle Madame Web is turning out to be, not having a post credit scene is the best thing Sony have done. No more false promises like the post credit scene of Morbius. Anyways, Sony doesn’t have any pre-planned vision for this universe, so I’m not sure what they could have shown.

The film stars Dakota Johnson, as well as fellow co-stars Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced, Tahar Rahim, Emma Roberts and most recently Severance’s star Adam Scott. The film is to be directed by S.J. Clarkson and the screenplay of the film is written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, with a previous draft having been penned by Kerem Sanga.

Madame Web is slated to release on 16th February 2024.
