You know a quality show when you see one and the new Star Wars spin-off, Andor is surely one of them. Right from the premiere, we knew this show was going to be bonkers and fans were really happy to see that it delivered in every aspect of film-making. It is definitely not overselling it to say that Andor is indeed the best Star Wars Live Action production in years and can even be considered the absolute best of Star Wars to date. We rarely come across such nearly flawless shows and that is precisely the reason why everyone’s quite amped up for season 2. Well, here is everything you need to know about Andor Season 2.

Andor Season 2: Trailer and Release Date

So, first of all, yes Andor Season 2 is definitely going to happen as it was always supposed to be a two part prequel to Rogue One. Disney and Lucasfilms knew what they were doing and completely backed this project by pre-approving 24 episodes split into 2 seasons. This made Andor the only Star Wars live action show to feature 12 episodes in a season. With season 2 confirmed, it is now only a matter of time before we see the completion of Cassian Andor’s arc and the events that led what transpired in Rogue One. As it happens, the first trailer for Andor Season 2 was revealed at the Star Wars celebration 2023 but wasn’t released for the masses.

The footage teased the return of key characters, including Rebel cell members Vel Sartha and Luthen Rael (in and out of his disguise as an antiquities dealer), as well as Syril Karn, who appears to have gone up in the world, and been thrust into a higher class of Imperial citizenship. Scenes also showed Mon Mothma slowly building alliances, trying to bring her disparate senatorial and rebellious worlds together as dissent grows across the galaxy. Several shots showed a protest being policed by Stormtroopers, where violence breaks out with lots of explosions and lots of chaos. Cassian is seen skulking through hallways and seemingly coming into his own as a Rebel spy. The trailer concludes with Luthen echoing his comment from season one, “Don’t you want to fight these bastards for real?” over a shot of Cassian, dressed up in a fancy suit with his hair slicked back, in some kind of fancy bar.

While Andor season 2 was originally expected to debut in August 2024, it has been delayed due to the writer’s and SAG-AFTRA strike just like everything else. Season 2 production began in December 2021 and was supposed to wrap up by August but the production was halted in July. Since then, we haven’t heard much about it which means it will most definitely be pushed back a bit.

Season 2 Plot, Cast, and Characters

At the end of season 1, Andor officially joins Luthen and the mass rebellion ensues after Maarva’s death. So, season 2 will pick up exactly where the first season ended and by the end will tie everything to Rogue One. As explained by Tony Gildroy, season 2 spans four years and is about Andor learning to be a leader and how difficult it is to put the alliance together. “It’ll be very different. The next four years [of story] are not about becoming a revolutionary. They’re about learning to be a leader and how difficult it is to put the alliance together and what happens to people who are the original gangsters versus the establishment and a lot of different other issues.”

As for the cast and characters, everyone who survived season 1 will most likely comeback. The main returning cast includes:

  • Diego Luna – Cassian Andor
  • Stellan Skarsgård – Luthen Rael
  • Genevieve O’Reilly – Mon Mothma
  • Denise Gough – Dedra Meero
  • Kyle Soller – Syril Karn
  • Adria Arjona – Bix Caleen
  • Faye Marsey – Vel Sartha
  • Varada Sethu – Cinta Kaz
  • Andy Serkis – Kino Loy (Yes, he is not dead yet)
  • Joplin Sibtain – Brasso
  • Muhannad Bahair – Wilmon
  •  Forest Whitaker – Saw Gerrera

Aside from these and the rest of the supporting cast, cameos from Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso), Ben Mendelsohn (Krennic), and Mads Mikkleson (Galen Erso) are also expected. And if Disney Plus decides to mint more money from the final season, it may force a Darth Vader, Princess Leia, or Obi Wan Kenobi cameo into it as well. We hope they don’t but hey as long as they maintain the top-tier quality of season 1, the cameos won’t hurt.

Star Wars: Ahsoka Episode 6 debuts on September 20, 2023 only on Disney Plus.
