Star Wars: Donald Glover Lando Series Is Now A Movie, Release Date, Cast and More

Star Wars is one of the most famous franchises of the world not just in films but now also in the TV sector. After the Star Wars films started to plummet at the box office, the George Lucas franchise kickstarted its TV tenure with a huge banger – The Mandalorian. Out of everything that we’ve gotten from Star Wars, The Mandalorian happens to be the best thing ever. In the recent years, there were many hits for the franchise but most of them came from the TV sector. The Star Wars series are much better than the movies ever were. The very recently released Ahsoka series also has terrific reviews. In this current landscape, it appears as if the franchise is far more comfortable with TV shows rather than movies. Which is why they are now converting movies into TV shows.

Donald Glover’s Star Wars Series Is Now A Movie!

The upcoming Lando series starring Donald Glover is now a movie. The actor first appeared in the role in 2017’s box office disastrous “Solo”. The project was first under Justin Simien but has now been taken over Stephen and Donald Glover. The first hint at this change was offered to us by Stephen Glover in a recent appearance on the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast, telling the host, “It’s not even a show…the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.”

Lucasfilm, the studio behind the Star Wars universe, later confirmed the news officially. The character of Lando was originally played by Billy Dee Williams in “The Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi.” Donald Glover talked about the Star Wars universe in a recent interview with GQ magazine. He said, “We’re talking about it. That’s as much as I can say without [Lucasfilm president] Kathleen Kennedy hunting me down.” “Lando is charm incarnate,” Glover continued at the time. “He’s kind of a maverick, which I don’t think there’s a lot of anymore. It’s hard to be the smooth talker nowadays. Where’s the line? That’s also where the danger is. How close can you get without tripping over it?”

Glover added, “I would love to play Lando again. It’s a fun time, being him. It just has to be the right way to do it. Time is precious. The past couple of years, this pandemic shit, it really had people experience time… People realize their time is valuable. You only get so much. I’m not interested in doing anything that’s going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, and I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I like to hang out with.”
