Also, as you may know Witcher Season 3 is all set to debut in Mid 2023 but before that fans are prepping for The Witcher: Blood Origin prequel series. So, if you are wondering exactly what it is and why you should watch it, then you are at the right place!

The Witcher: Blood Origin Plot, Characters, Release and More

The Witcher Blood Origin Release Date, Cast, Characters, Poster and More Updates

The Witcher: Blood Origin is an upcoming horror fantasy series based in the world of Witcher. It is basically a prequel series that takes place thousands of years before the events of The Witcher and The Nightmare of the Wolf. So, if you expect to see your favorite characters from the series, well you won’t. The Witcher: Blood Origins is all set to release this year. We saw the first and only trailer for it at the end of The Witcher Season 2 and it definitely looks promising. Good thing about it is that it will provide something new to the fans of the universe.

Set 1200 years before the current timeline, Blood Origin will be based in the time when conjunction of spheres took place. We will talk more about this in the next segment. Blood Origins is going to be a four-part (formerly six) miniseries inspired by the writings of Andrzej Sapkowski. Its main cast includes Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, and Jacob Collins-Levy.

As for the characters, Eile, played by Sophia Brown, is from a Clan of Elves that uses knives as their primary weapon. Fjall, played by Irish actor Laurence O’Fuarain, is from the clan of elves that uses axes as their weapon. Scian, played by Michelle Yeoh is living as a hermit out in the Black Sands when we meet her. Minnie Driver’s character Seanchai, is a shape-shifting collector of old lore with the abilities to travel between time and worlds. Seanchai will serve as not just the narrator for the series, but will also have a full physical presence. And of course, we’ll have cameo from Joey Batey as our favorite bard Jaskier/Dandelion serving as the co-narrator of the series.

5 Reasons Why You Should Watch It

First of all, if you are fan, you need no reason to watch it and will do so, no matter what. But in case you are planning to skip it, here’s why you shouldn’t:

The Arrival of Monsters – The Conjunction of Spheres was an event which took place in the world of Witcher and brought monsters into this world. This phenomenon will be showcased in the Blood Origin and it would be a sight to behold. “We’re going to explain how it happened and the reasons it happened.” showrunner Declan de Barra said. “The [mystery of the] Conjunction Spheres led to this whole show because I was working on The Witcher Season 2, and we had a story point we couldn’t fix because we needed to know what happened.”

The Arrival of Magic – Along with the monsters and chaos, magic also came into existence during the Conjunction of Spheres as a balancing force against the new creatures entering the world. So, that is another aspect viewers might be able to enjoy about Blood Origin.

The Creation of Witchers – After monsters and magic came into existence, these fearsome mutants called the Witchers were created to protect the world of men. It would be really interesting to see how this happened and the first of the Witchers came into existence. “The actual initial mechanics for that witcher, and the Trial of the Grasses, that was open [to explore]. It’s like, “How did that come about?” So, that’s what we delve into: What is the prototype of the witcher? What was the story there, and how did that get lost? And who found that critical element later?”, explained De Barra.

The Witcher Blood Origin What It Is and 5 Reasons Why You Should Watch It

The Origin of Eredin (The King of the Wild Hunt) – Possibly, the most exciting thing for most of the fans is that Blood Origin will also showcase the origin of the Wild Hunt. Eredin or the King of the Wild Hut is probably the only character from the main saga who will appear in Blood Origin.

The Elven Glory – Blood Origins will also explore the glorious reign of the elves before Dh’oine (humans) rose to prominence. It will showcase the battles between the two civilizations and the fall of the elves. “Viewers will be surprised because they’re going to see a story told about a period of elven history that was buried by the humans after their arrival and eventual conquest of the continent,” de Barra commented. “We get to tell a tale about the elves when they were at their height, like all great societies before their fall.”
