Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 9 – Is Kim Gone For Good?

First of all, I’d like to say that this episode managed to act both as a relief from the constant tension of the past two episodes, as well as ends on an earth-shattering note. So, even though it was meant to be a breather, it didn’t quite turn out to be so and was just bang on! Secondly, I am really happy that they talked about Nacho Varga once more as he surely deserved to be talked about once after his well, death. It provided a closure not just to the viewers but also to Mike (who had a respectful relationship with Nacho), and his father. So, kudos to the directors for including that heartfelt scene.

Talking about heart-warming scenes, Gus also had one this episode. Gus walked into a bar… and no he didn’t do anything ruthless or cool; instead he shared a really tender moment with who was potentially a man he loves. Even though he didn’t say it out loud, his eyes said it all and I just can’t stop falling head over heals for Giancarlo’s performance every time he’s on screen. Now finally, let’s talk about the most heart-breaking scene of this episode as Kim decided to part ways with Saul. Can’t say we didn’t see that coming.

“As for Kim Wexler, it is a bit unclear where she’ll go on from here. She might continue breaking bad or she might go on a journey of self-redemption, because there is no doubt she also shares the guilt for Howard’s death,” we wrote in our Better Call Saul Season 6 Episode 8 review. It seems like the latter has happened and even though she loves Saul a lot, the chaos the two create is too much for her to handle. Or let’s say that she can handle it but doesn’t want to now, as she wants to be a good person. “Because I was having too much fun” resonated too much with Walter White’s “I did it for me. I was good at it. I was alive”. But unlike him she decided to do the right thing, for now.

We’re Officially in the Breaking Bad Timeline Now

To our surprise, right after Kim supposedly leaves Saul, the show cuts to future and that officially brings us to the Breaking Bad timeline. We all sure expected this but not with 4 episodes still left to go. Maybe now we’ll follow the Breaking Bad Saul Goodman for the next two episodes and the future alter ego Gene in the final two. At least it looks that way. So, Saul now has a hair fall problem, the Breaking Bad office, the classic Saul Goodman catchphrase and a cup that says “World’s Greatest Lawyer”.

Since, it has made a time-skip, that also means that Gus has now finished up construction of his lab and we are somewhere in the middle of Breaking Bad. I am just too hyped now as a Walter White and Jesse Pinkman cameo is very near! Not just that we might be able to see a lot of cameos and now we have almost reached the destination. I too also too amped up to see how the future story concludes and whether or not Saul reunites with Kim Wexler in the finale. Man, we are in the endgame now and the hype is real!!!

Final Verdict – Better Call Saul season 6 episode 9 didn’t have the thrills and shocks of the last two episodes, but it was by far the most heart-warming as well as heart-breaking episode this season. A lot of heart and a lot of hype is what defines this one.
