Now that the short lived Norse saga has been concluded with God of War: Ragnarok, fans have been left asking what is next for the manliest God who ever walked Greece and Midgard. Ragnarok is certainly one of the best games of 2022 and the combined narrative of God of War 2018 and Ragnarok is undoubtedly one of the best stories ever told in all kinds of media. So, while we wait for the next potential half sequel/DLC or a whole new game, we’ve been given a gift which we never saw coming!
CMON Officially Working On God of War Board Game
That’s right CMON is officially developing a God of War Board Game in collaboration with Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game will be based on the first game of the Norse saga aka God of War (2018). It will follow Kratos and his son Atreus as they explore the Nine Realms of Norse Mythology. Not many details about the game have been revealed yet but a few that have been are as follows. First of all it will feature CMON’s signature miniatures and a first look at two of the miniatures of the game can be seen above.
“This game has been in the works for years, and I think both gamers and God of War fans will really like the end results. Our main goal was always: ‘Does this feel like God of War?’, and I think the designers did a tremendous job in that regard. Working with Santa Monica Studio and Sony Interactive Entertainment has been an absolute dream, not only guiding us through the God of War setting, but also allowing us to bring the things we do best to the table”, stated Geoff Skinner, CMON SVP of US Operations.
CMON has been associated with God of War once before as they made a God of War Card Game back in 2019. Aside from this, CMON has been associated with many top notch franchises including like Bloodborne, A Song of Ice and Fire, Marvel, Dune, and Cyberpunk. As for the release date of the board game, CMON has slated the release for 2025 with a Kickstarter planned for 2024. That is all we know about it so far, and more details will only be revealed next year around the Kickstarted campaign.
