Valheim is getting better and better with every update, is already one of the best survival games in the world. In its commitment to making the game more amazing, Iron Gate released a major update which is currently in public beta testing and will be released as soon as all the bugs are fixed. As you may know this new update adds Frost Caves to the Mountains region of your world. So, with that, come new enemies, new materials, a new mini boss, and new armor.

The Fenris Armor and Flesh Rippers

With a new area and new materials comes a new armor set, so with the picks from the wolf altars and drops from cultist, you can craft a Fenris Armor. Will show you exactly where you’ll find the materials for it but first let’s take a look at this new armor. As usual it has 3 major pieces, which are Fenris Coat, Fenris Leggings and Fenris Hood. Additionally, you can craft a weapon as a part of this set which is called “Flesh Rippers (Slash DMG 72)”. They are basically claws which make you look like Wolverine!

The Fenris Armor can be upgraded to level 4 and at max level it will provide you a combined armor of 48. This is quite less compared to the Iron Armor at maximum level and Silver/Wolf Armor at base level. Also, at this point in the game the mobs get quite tough so you at least need a wolf armor or a max iron armor. So, basically the Fenris armor is for collectors who have conquered the game. It does provide you a unique set effect though. If you have all 3 pieces on, you’ll be able to run faster and become fire resistant. This can help you while battling Cultist in the frost caves. Also, the Coat protects you from cold, so you do not need Lox Cape or Wolf cape to survive in mountains now.

How to Craft Fenris Armor?

The Fenris Armor can be crafted at Workbench level 2 and following are the materials you’ll require to craft level 1 Fenris Armor:

  • Fenris Coat: 20 Fenris Hair, 4 Wolf Pelt, and 10 Leather Scraps
  • Fenris Leggings: 20 Fenris Hair, 4 Wolf Pelt, and 10 Leather Scraps
  • Fenris Hood: 20 Fenris Hair, 2 Wolf Pelt, and 1 Cultist Trophy

If you are an old player, you know where you’ll find Wolf pelt (Wolf Drops) and Leather Scraps (Boars Drops/ Iron Scrap mining). As for Fenris Hair, you will find this new material inside the Frost Caves. While exploring them, you will find Wolf Altars from where you can obtain Fenris hair. You can also get Fenris Hair by breaking some decorations inside the caves with your pickaxe. Now comes the hardest material which is Cultist Trophy. First of all, Cultist are one of the hardest mobs in the game and secondly, their trophy drops are rare. So, you might struggle to make Fenris Hood.

To craft Flesh Rippers you will need 10 Fenris Hair, 6 Fenris Claws, and 10 Silver. You can collect Fenris Claws in the Frost Caves’ Wolf Altars as well. As of now, no mobs drop Fenris Claws. As for Silver, you might be aware how to craft it – as usual dig silver veins to get silver ore and smelt silver ore to get Silver. It seems like a really cool weapon and it honestly, looks amazing as well, especially as a Wolverine fan.
