Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PS5 Gameplay Trailer Breakdown – Details You May Have Missed!

THE DAY IS HERE! Sony’s original games are some of the best games ever made with loads of Game Awards titles to their names. One such game is Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) which was highly praised for its incredible VFX, open world, and insane swing mechanics which made users feel like Spidey themselves. Then, in 2020 we got its spin-off called Spider-Man: Miles Morales which was equally praised however was criticized a bit for its short length. Since then fans have been eagerly waiting Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is all set to release this year. Well, today we have an awesome update for you guys as a 12 min gameplay trailer for the same has been released at Sony PlayStation Showcase 2023.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Gameplay Trailer Breakdown – Venom, Kraven, Black Suit and More

We all knew that Sony was building up to a huge PlayStation Showcase and now that it is here, it did not disappoint. While information about a lot of games was revealed at the showcase, the highlight of course, was Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 trailer. As we reported earlier, we got a huge gameplay trailer which lasted over 12 minutes and revealed a lot of details and new features of the upcoming game. Some of the major things you need to know about it are listed below along with certain things you may not a noticed.

Let us begin with some of the story details we noticed in the gameplay trailer:

• Kraven the Hunter is hunting is going to be a major part of the plot and seems to be after Kurt Connors aka The Lizard and other characters in NYC.
• The game is set six months after the events of Miles Morales (which ends in-universe on January 30, 2020). So SM2 will likely take place around July/August 2020.
• Peter Parker already has the Venom suit and it looks like it’s already starting to take control of him as Peter seems very dismissive towards Miles throughout the gameplay.
• Peter could be seen going towards the dark side with the little things he did throughout the trailer like being extra violent, lacking compassion after rescuing a victim and developing a bit of arrogance.
• Big focus on the Black Symbiote Suit and Sony clearly stated, “In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re putting respect on the Black Suit and giving it the story it deserves. In this installment, we’re really delving into Peter’s personal relationship with the Symbiote and how it affects those closest to him…”
• Both Peter and Miles seem to be trying to find a cure for Harry Osborn with Connors help.
• From what it appears, it feels like there will surely be a Peter vs Miles at some moment in the game.

Moving on, following are some gameplay mechanics and new combat/swing techniques we noticed in the trailer:

 

• The map is going to be a lot bigger than the previous two installments and some new locations include Brooklyn, Queens, East River and more
• We also noticed improved textures, lighting, particles and more
• Peter can now parry; some attacks can’t be dodged, must be parried
• We noticed near instant switching between Peter and Miles, which would have taken minutes in PS4
• New ‘Web Wings’ wingsuit of Miles allows for faster traversal thanks to PS5 SSD
• Miles also has new abilities/gadgets like Web Grabber (pulls enemies together), Thunder Burst (electrifying ground pound) etc.
• The Black Suit combat mechanics share a lot of similarities with Tom Hardy’s Venom series and has range of moves including one where multiple symbiote tentacles slam multiple enemies on the ground at the same time. This might be a finisher move.
