OTT is on the rise in the Indian entertainment market and filmmakers are repeatedly trying to bring forward fresh and amazing content. So far TVF has produced some excellent web series like Pitchers, Kota Factory, and Aspirants. Amazon has also delivered some fine series including Panchayat, Inside Edge, and The Family Man. Netflix is still struggling to make some groundbreaking fresh content but still offers finely made Little Things and Delhi Crime.

Competing with these giants, are also Sony Liv and Hotstar. Hotstar still has to offer something incredible and original whereas Sony Liv offers a very different kind of content. It’s biopic on Harshad Mehta, Scam 1992 is considered one of the best web series in India and now its back with another great series. Right from the moment we saw the Rocket Boy’s trailer, we knew it was going to be an epic adventure. Not only is Rocket Boys’ concept fresh and out of the league, but it is also executed with sheer brilliance.

From direction and performances, to production design and cinematograph, Rocket Boys check’s all boxes. Vintage cars, apt costumes, perfect makeups and hairstyling, and maker’s excellent attention of detail make it a joy ride. It isn’t packed with big bangs or a thrilling storyline, but it brings forward a very important part of India’s post independence history. As expected, Jim Sarbh and Ishwak Singh gave powerful performances as Homi Bhabha and Vikram Sarabhai respectively. Rest of the cast also delivered tremendous performances. All this and more makes Rocket Boys a must watch. Not to mention the melodious and well crafted opening music and title sequence.

Will Rocket Boys Return For Season 2?

The show presented some important historic breakthroughs of India and seemed to wrap up the premise quite well in the end. There are a few questions left unanswered like Homi Bhabha’s death but that’s not enough for a sequel season. But a season 2 could show how Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and Satish Dhawan took the legacy of India’s aerospace programme forward.

The series is called Rocket Boys for a reason, or it could have been named after Bhabha or Sarabhai. So, there is a solid chance that the series would return with Arjun Radhakrishnan’s Kalam as lead. It is also possible that a Kalam spin off series arrives instead of Rocket Boys. Guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens. For now there are no plans for its return or any announcements but let’s stay optimistic. Even if the series makes a return, there is no chance it’ll arrive anytime before Mid 2023. Until next time!
