Joker 2: Folie a Deux is the sequel to the billion dollar DC venture – Joker (2019). The film starred Joaquin Phoenix in the infamous role of the clown prince of crime which finally earned him his much awaited Oscar. Five years since its release, the Todd Phillips directorial still stands tall as the highest grossing R-rated film of all time. It was unlike for Phillips and Phoenix to return for a sequel, however, that is exactly why we should be excited for it. The idea behind the sequel is so strong that it has forced these two men to return. Over the few months, we have gotten some stills from the film but other then that we have no official footage. Joker 2: Potential Release Date For The First Trailer Leaked!
Reputed industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed on his podcast that the first trailer for Joker 2: Folie à Deux will release online on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024. Check out this X post to know more about Joker 2’s Trailer:

This date is also in line with Todd Phillips’ trailer tease. In mid February this year, a fan asked director Todd Phillips about the film’s first trailer’s release date and the filmmaker candidly revealed that it is more than likely that for a trailer to drop mid April.

Joker 2 is supposed to be a diegetic musical, almost like “Cabaret.” Given that the first movie was a King of Comedy/TaxiDriver knock-off, this next one could very well likely be based on another Scorsese directorial, the musical “New York, New York”.
The title “Folie à Deux” means a type of mental illness shared between two close people. Where can Joaquin’s Arthur Fleck find someone who shares a similar mental illness as him? Well his best bet would the Arkham Asylum. Both characters can find comfort in each and other as they’d empathize.
