Marvel has dropped on us all the content they’re coming out within the next 3 years. The Marvel panel on Day 2 of Comic Con was truly mind-blowing. We got a lot of confirmations to the things we were already suspecting and we definitely got some surprises. In the panel, Kevin Feigi walked up on the stage and re-announced the Blade movie. It was first announced at SDCC 3 years go, and we’ve been patiently waiting to hear more about it for a long time. We knew that Mahershala Ali is going to play the part but other than that, we never got any updates. But that was until now, as we now know when Blade is coming out and that it will be part of Phase 5.

Although, all these updates seem like a recap as they’re almost 2 months old. After the SDCC’22 Marvel panel we never got any updates on the Blade movie. Considering that the film is not that far away and knowing how Marvel likes to finish their film’s early, it was unusual for the film to not start shooting. All this panic was before today, as today we’ve gotten the official filming date for Marvel’s Blade.

Blade to Start Filming this October?

The film is directed by Bassam Tariq with a script from Stacy Osei-Kuffour. Blade was first introduced by Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan in 1973’s The Tomb of Dracula #10 from Marvel Comics. According to KFTV, the Blade reboot is all set to go on floors in Atlanta, GA starting on Oct. 5 all the way through Jan. 28, 2023. This is in line with a filming start window that was revealed in July.  Which stated that the Marvel Studios reboot would begin filming in at Tyler Perry Studios in October 2022.

Locations including Atlanta, GA, New Orleans, LA, Cleveland, OH and Morocco. While we don’t know whether the reboot will be R-Rated or not. The Blade movies in the 90s starring Wesley Snipes were R-Rated and fans seem to love them. They want this reboot to have the same vibes but again we can’t be sure of what Marvel will do. So far we have only heard Mahershala Ali’s voice as Blade at the end of Eternals. We don’t even have a single first look of him. The character was supposed to appear in Moon Knight but he didn’t.

Ali previously talked about his excitement regarding the character and Snipes legacy. The Oscar winning Actor said in a recent interview, “Well, only what I discovered, like everyone else in the late ’90s with Wesley Snipes, you know,” the two-time Oscar winner said regarding his knowledge of the Marvel character. “And … I don’t think I even noticed how, at least at that time, how I was just accustomed to there not being black superheroes.”

Like the lead actor, director Bassam Tariq talked about how this movie would be very important as after Black Panther this is only film with a Black Superhero. Tariq said, “What’s exciting about the film that we’re making is [there] hasn’t been a canon for Blade, as we’re reading through the comics and everything,” Tariq said. “Him being a daywalker is the one thing that’s been established, and you know we can’t deny what Wesley Snipes did, which was he basically got this whole ball rolling.”

Blade is slated to release on November 3, 2023
