Marvel’s Fantastic Four has been a long time in the making. We have been waiting for MCU’s iteration of their first Superhero family ever since Disney acquired Fox. Sadly, we have gotten nothing but disappointment until now. One good thing is definitely Matt Shakman’s involvement in the project. Him helming the reboot is definitely a big positive as he is a extremely capable director who understands the superhero genre well so he’ll be perfect for this assignment. As far as the cast is concerned we’re as in the dark as we can be. At this point we have gotten so many names for the Fantastic Four that we have stopped caring. Thankfully, today’s update is not regarding a casting update. Today we have received our first intimation regarding the big bad who the Fantastic Four will go against.
Fantastic Four: Silver Surfer and Galactus To Appear?
Just like all the things on the internet, movie leaks are also dependent on podcasts. I think we’re all aware of the main culprit behind all the leaks- it is The Hot Mic podcast where industry insider and reputed leakster Jeff Sneider recently revealed that both Galactus and his herald Silver Surfer will make an appearance in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Sneider further revealed that director Matt Shakman wants to go very cosmic in the reboot, “I’m told that Matt Shakman is planning to go very cosmic with his ‘Fantastic Four’ movie. Lots of 1960s elements, and that the film will feature both Galactus and the Silver Surfer.”
Sneider also commented on Marvel’s hiring of Avatar: The Way of Water’s Josh Friedman in place on Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. Apparatenly this change was made based on merit and Marvel believes Friedman will take Fantastic Four to the level which Marvel wants them to go, “Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer’s draft of ‘Fantastic Four’ was fine, but they brought in that new writer to get it to the level that Kevin Feige and Matt Shakman wanted. Marvel is still open to working with Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer again.”
The Fantastic Four reboot is slated to release in theatres on 14th February 2025.
