She Hulk Episode 9 Review – A WTF Finale Which Is Not For Everyone, But Has Daredevil and Skaar

Marvel Phase 4 introduced us with yet another new superhero with her own show called She-Hulk: Attorney At Law. The show focuses on Hulk’s cousin She-Hulk (alter ego Jennifer Walters) played by Tatiana Maslany who works for a Law Firm that handles superhero cases. Since episode 3, the show has received a lot of backlash from audiences and critics alike for having a poor narrative, unfunny humor, and very poor CGI and action. But that changed a bit in the penultimate episode thanks to Daredevil as well as the twisted ending. Anyways, She-Hulk just debuted its finale after a comparatively good episode last week, so here is our verdict about She Hulk Episode 9. WARNING – Major Spoilers for the Episode Follow Below.

She Hulk Episode 9 Review – Chaos Reigns in This She-Hulk Finale

So, She-Hulk ended up being a Seinfield aka a show about nothing. Just when we all thought the show might be leading up to something, we were greeted with a massive wtf moment and possibly the biggest 4th wall break I have ever seen. Even Deadpool will shy away from the kind of 4th wall break this She-Hulk finale had. The episode began with a highly rushed narrative which led to a very stupid plot, before being rescued by that wtf moment.

As it happens, Todd Phelps turned out to be the mastermind behind Intelligencia as well as Jen’s sex tape leak, and he went on to transform into a Hulk. Then we saw chaos rain down upon us as Abomination, Hulk, and every major character in the show popped up out of nowhere. Anyways, this is when the fourth wall break took place and Jen decided to pay a visit to Marvel Studios executives and Kevin. But when Jen finally entered Kevin’s room, it turned out to be an AI named K.E.V.I.N and not Kevin Feigi (the Marvel boss).

Upon meeting him Jen called out how stupid the finale has been so far and that she wants an ending that suits her. As a result, she made K.E.V.I.N remove most of the stuff. So, what ultimately happened was that Todd was still the bad guy but without superpowers, Blonsky still broke terms of his agreements and went back to his cell, Hulk and Titania didn’t appear at all during the climax, and Daredevil returned as per her special request. Another witty thing they slipped in was the mention of X-Men and that aside, K.E.V.I.N basically confirmed that She-Hulk won’t be arriving to big screen anytime soon.

So, this was all rather chaotic but at the same time very bold and creative. Fans would be split 50-50 on this one and some will hate it to their guts, while others might appreciate the creative choices. But that being said, the obvious issues of the show still can’t be neglected. These include bad CGI, unfunny jokes, and a very convenient storyline. They did manage to redeem what at first, seemed to be a stupid finale, but that doesn’t save the previous poorly written and executed episodes (3 to 7). I am sure most fans were pretty happy to see Matt as well Daredevil again, but the main surprise of the episode was – Bruce introducing his son Skaar to the family.

This effectively sets up the World War Hulk project and if Jen’s comments are to be believed, it is going to be a movie rather than a series. All that aside, the show did manage to present a good character study of Jeniffer Walters as by the end, she has finally accepted both her personalities and ends up becoming a strong and successful lawyer of her generation. So, there is no doubt Jen’s character was handled well, but apart from that, the show really didn’t amount to anything. It did set up Daredevil, as well as Hulk-Skaar projects but failed to present a compelling or meaningful narrative in itself.

Final Verdict for She Hulk – She Hulk Episode 9 is undoubtedly highly creative and fresh, but it is not for everyone. Considering the hate show has received till now, most fans will trash this finale and you can’t blame them. However, if they analyze this episode individually, they’ll see it for what it actually is. That said, She-Hulk finale proved that Marvel isn’t afraid of taking risks now and even though She-Hulk would go down in the history as one of the worst and most hated Marvel projects, it did make its point.

Final Rating for She-Hulk – ★★★
