Marvel unfortunately never got the right combination for standalone Thor movies. The first movie was just bland, Dark World was a debacle, they seemed to get it right with Thor: Ragnarok but then just overdid everything they learnt from it in Thor: Love and Thunder. Never ever was there a uniform treatment across Thor movies that could stick with the audience. However, Chris Hemsworth as Thor was always a homerun and to be fair the franchise has always proven itself to be a financial asset against its budget. Considering all the above, it was just a matter of time before Marvel announced Thor 5. Although, if rumors are to be believed, this might be the last one.

Hercules, Balder, Title – All We Know About Thor 5!

An exclusive report on Thor 5 reveals that the film will officially act as the final chapter of the Thor franchise within the MCU. The report further states that the working title of the film is “Thor: The Legend of Hercules”. As set up in one of the post credit scenes of Thor: Love and Thunder, Hercules played by Brett Goldstein will return to take revenge from Thor for his father Zeus’ disparage.

The mighty Hercules will seek revenge from Thor in the first half of the film but at one point in the story will turn and instead join Thor’s side to fight against a much more sinister threat. Who or what that threat could be isn’t revealed in this report. Interestingly, the film will also introduce Thor’s half brother Balder the Brave. We recently got a reference of the mythological character in Loki season two.

We know he is out somewhere in the MCU but it looks like we might finally get to see him in Thor’s last outing. There were many rumors about the character’s appearance in Love and Thunder including an artwork of Daniel Craig as the character, however, none of the rumors amounted to anything. Who knows maybe this time Daniel Craig comes on board.

An earlier update had already warned us that Marvel is seeking a much darker tone for the film and hence, the studio is seeking a new face in the director’s chair – Gareth Edwards. Whether Edwards has agreed or not still remains a mystery but in my opinion this is a step in the right direction. Edwards sensibilities could really turn out to be beneficiary for Marvel.

Thor 5: The Legend of Hercules isn’t officially announced at the time of writing.
