Moon Knight Finale Delivers Its Promise

Apart from seeing Moon Knight go toe to toe with Harrow, there were a lot of cheer worthy moments in the finale. One of those moments was when Layla became the avatar of Taweret, the Lady of Heaven who first appeared in episode 4. Upon becoming her avatar, she too was granted superhuman powers and a Wonder Woman 84 like costume. The only big difference was that her action moves were well choreographed when she fought alongside Moon Knight to take down Harrow and Ammit.

Talking about Ammit, her CGI was well done just like Konshu and the final CGI showdown between Ammit and Konshu was spectacular! Ammit proved be really really powerful and even with the full might of Konshu, Moon Knight and Lalya as Taweret’s avatar, it was hard to take her down. But in a shocking moment, with the help of Jake Lockley, Moon Knight was able to take Harrow down and trap Ammit in his body. So, all in all, it was a satisfying showdown but wasn’t anything too different from rest of the Marvel. In fact, Ammit and Harrow’s entire mission was the same as Hydra in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Anyways, our heroes won in the end and that’s all we wanted but there’s something else.

Moon Knight Ending Explained

After the final showdown Konshu asks Marc/Steve to finish off Harrow and Taweret once and for all, but they refuse to do so. Anyways, according to the deal Konshu releases them of his possession. What happens after that is what confused the fans. Once again, Marc and Steven wake up at the mental asylum led by Harrow and this made viewers wonder if everything they saw was not real.

Well, that is not the case as this scene was put to signify Marc’s final victory over his mental state and showcased how he has now attained peace of mind he was looking for. When Doctor Harrow started bleeding at the end, that was the moment Marc broke that illusion and went back to saving the world which he finally understands is the reality. So, yes all events you saw in Moon Knight actually take place whereas all sequences of mental asylum where the illusion which showcased Marc’s battle with himself.

Moon Knight Post Credit Scene and Who is Jake Lockley?

A third personality of Marc Spector was being teased throughout the season. There were many sequences where even Marc as Moon Knight found himself to be overwhelmed. In these moments, blackouts occurred and viewers saw things working out in favor for our heroes if rather bloodily. When we saw the same happen in the final battle, we understood what was going on and the post credit scene confirmed the same.

In the post-credit scene Harrow, who now actually is in a mental asylum, is confronted by Konshu in a limo. This is where Konshu reveals that Marc is still bound to him as Moon Knight because he doesn’t understand that he’s way more messed up than he thinks. The driver of the limo is revealed to be Jake Lockley who goes on to shoot Harrow (and Ammit) to death on the orders on Konshu. Jake Lockley is a popular character in the comics who is yet another personality of Marc Spector. Lockley is the most brutal personality of Marc and he follows what he’s told without holding anything back. According to various fan theories, it was actually Jake Lockley who killed Layla’s dad and the others, which Marc believes his partner did.

Anyways, the future of Moon Knight seems bright, well dark, well you know what I mean. Moon Knight has proved to be quite a ride with exceptional performances by Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy and Ethan Hawke. Oscar Isaac surely deserve a round of applause for his powerful and like-like performance especially in Episode 5. That aside, Moon Knight has brilliant visuals owing to beautiful cinematography, flawless editing, and good CGI. Its soundtrack also deserves praise as well as its action choreography. So, ultimately Moon Knight has proven to be a must watch series which has become by second favorite MCU show after Loki.
