The Star Wars Animated universe is expanding a lot with renewals and addition of new shows. Recently at the Star Wars Celebration 2022, it was revealed that a new anthology Star Wars animated show called Tales of the Jedi is scheduled to release soon on the streaming service Disney+ (Read here). That aside, Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2 has also debuted its first trailer and is all set to debut fall 2022. Now, on the final day of the celebration, we have news from a panel that another animated show, Star Wars: Visions which had its Season 1 premiered last year on Disney+, is returning for Season 2 in Spring 2023. The anthology show consisted of animated shorts made by the world’s best anime creators and studios in Japan.

About Star War: Visions Season 2

The 9 animated shorts were produced by seven Japanese animation studios, while giving freedom to the creators at each studio to tell the stories they want outside of the traditional Star Wars canon. Lucasfilm’s executive team provided guidance to the studios to maintain consistency regarding Star Wars core themes and emotional identity.

The short animated films which were around 13-22 minutes long focused on stories across the galaxy over different time periods and received critical acclaim. The new bunch of shorts were reportedly coming from the animation studios in Japan, UK, India, Spain, Ireland, Chile, France, South Africa and U.S, with each studio putting their own spin and style of animation on the beloved sci-fi series. It is currently unclear if any of the Japanese anime studios that worked on the first season will return to direct and produce a short for season 2
