Money Heist: Korea, Joint Economic Area Trailer and Release Date Out

Netflix’s acclaimed heist-thriller series Money Heist, which concluded recently few months back is now all set for a Korean Remake/Spin-off, Money Heist: Korea continuation releasing later this month. The original show aired in Spanish language and the cast led by Alvaro Morte, Pedro Alonso,  Ursula Corbero and an ensemble of others received acclaim and popularity all over the world. The series created by Alex Pina is one of the biggest hits for the streamer in recent times and became a pop culture phenomenon after Stranger Things, garnering lots of fans worldwide.

Korean Remake Joint Economic Area Plot, Release and Other Details

The remake is slated to release on June 23. The original creator of Money Heist, Alex Pina is executive producing the series and the plot does seem to have small changes from the Spanish show, while its set in the same universe as the original, making the new remake also a spinoff of the Spanish version. The remake is set against the backdrop of unified Korea and Yoo Ji-tae is leading the ensemble as the cunning and masterminded, The Professor. Park Hae-Soo who received fame with Netflix’s another Korean series, Squid Game, plays Berlin in the Korean version. The series is directed by Kim Hong-sun and written by Ryu Yong-jae, Kim Hwan-chae and Choe Sung-jun. The series is produced by BH Entertainment and Zium Content.

The official Plot synopsis of Money Heist: Korea Joint Economic Area is as follows:

“The series, both a remake and spin-off/continuation of the Spanish TV drama, follows the storyline and characters of the original series. “The Professor” (Yoo Ji-tae), a strategist criminal mastermind, and plans to pull off a heist in Korean Peninsula inspired by those in Spain. The operation involves strategists and desperados with different characteristics and abilities, who have to face unusual situations.”

Money Heist Prequel Berlin is in Works

Netflix also has another show related to the original Money Heist in works. The prequel series ‘Berlin’, which brings back Pedro Alonso in the titular role and takes place before the events of Money Heist is set to launch in 2023. But before that the show got a new remake in Korean language to satisfy the new and hardcore Money Heist fans and audience who love crime capers in general.
