Despite the problematic storytelling of the 3rd Season, The Umbrella Academy’s performance hasn’t wavered. The show was able to attract many eyeballs in a desperate time for Netflix. Naturally after analyzing the viewership numbers of The Umbrella Academy Netflix has greenlit its 4th Season but as I’d predicted, the 4th season is the last season. Most of the big Netflix shows ended last year like Ozark and Better Call Saul. Stranger Things will also conclude with the upcoming season. The Umbrella Academy just got added to the list. This is a difficult phase for Netflix and to get through it Netflix has to bring out content that is able to hold the subscribers, something like a Wednesday. Speaking of The Umbrella Academy, the final season’s episode count just got revealed and it is not good.
The Umbrella Academy Season 4’s Episode Count Is A Concern!
Showrunner Steve Blackman recently revealed that the first episode of The Umbrella Academy Season 4 will be called “The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want” and the final episode will be called “End of the Beginning.” This looks good. However, here is the problematic bit. Until now all three seasons of The Umbrella Academy had the same number of episodes- ten. However, the fourth and final season won’t. The final season of the show will only have six episodes and this is bad news.
The first three seasons of the show were barely able to wrap up their complicated storyline in ten episodes, how will they wrap up the show in six episodes? All the loose threads that the first three seasons have set-up, need to be resolved here. I don’t know how all this will be contained in six episodes especially because of the number of characters. The decreased number of episodes suggest that the show will probably won’t have a good ending.
The show stars Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore. All three seasons of The Umbrella Academy are available to stream on Netflix. The Umbrella Academy Season 4 doesn’t have a release date yet.
