Dragon Ball Super: Orange Piccolo Is As Strong As Goku, Says Akira Toriyama

It is truly awesome time for Dragon Ball Super fans with the Manga coming out weekly, and the release of Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The latest film is packed with some major character moments as well as incredible action, and is blowing past all expectations. The film released in Japan earlier this month and is all set to debut worldwide starting August 18, 2022. But unfortunately, fans have been spoiled a lot and now it seems like Toei itself is making sure they know about the spoilers of the film. Obviously, the following article contains major spoilers for DBS: SH.

Dragon Ball Super – Orange Piccolo Is As Strong As Goku

Just a few hours ago, Toei released new official promos featuring new transformations of Gohan, Piccolo as well as Cell Max, along with some HD images. That aside, they released a post-release trailer full of spoilers showcasing all these transformations. So, now that everyone knows about Beast Gohan and Orange Piccolo, fans are debating about how strong these new transformations are. Well think and debate no further as Akira Toriyama himself has clarified the power levels.

According to Toriyama, Piccolo is now as strong as Goku, and co. You can check out the image above that Toriyama shared and it roughly translates to:

In a quiet and stoic place, my favorite character is Piccolo. This time, it’s a rare pattern to talk and run around like this, but it’s probably the first time that Piccolo has transformed in earnest. I don’t have any hair that stands upright, so I tried to make it rugged. It may be difficult to understand if it is just that, so I tried to make it orange, but there may still be situations where it is difficult to understand the difference from normal. I think it would have been better to exaggerate it, but I’m personally pleased that I finally got the fighting power comparable to Goku and others. The name “Orange Piccolo” seems to be a piccolo with no sense, right?

So, there you have it, Orange Piccolo is as strong as Goku and co but here he is talking about their Super Saiyan Blue form, and not their current manga transformations. As you may, in Manga, Goku has achieved Saiyan Ultra Instinct and Vegeta has perfected Ultra Ego. So, he’s surely not as strong as that.

Yes, Beast Gohan Is Now Officially Stronger Than Goku

Obviously, now that Piccolo is as strong as Goku, Gohan is way stronger than him in his Beast Gohan (Final Gohan) form. But once again, this is true only for Goku’s SSBx20 Kaioken form, and he still might not be as powerful as Ultra Instinct Goku. On thing to note is taht the movie is based sometime during the Granolah arc where Goku and Vegeta have perfected their Ultra Instinct and Ultra Ego forms respectively. However, it doesn’t look like Toriyama was talking about these forms when he mentioned Piccolo was as strong as Goku.

Therefore, it is safe to say that Beast Gohan (Final Gohan) is surely not more powerful than UI Goku, AS OF YET. “As of yet” is very important as if and when Final Gohan arrives to Manga and Anime, he might be way more powerful and could even save the day when Goku, Vegeta and the others fail to. Gohan surely deserves to be the most powerful mortal warrior but as of now it is Goku in his new Saiyan Ultra Instinct (Chapter 85) form. However, Gohan is now more powerful than Goku and Vegeta in the anime and Piccolo is at par with them.
