First of all, to know absolutely everything about the update, make sure to check this article. One of the major things about this update is that it will add new Netflix series inspired content which includes Geralt’s Season 1 and 2 Armor set and swords from Netflix Show attached to a a whole new side quest, Alternative look for Dandelion aka Jaskier from Netflix Show, and the infamous yet iconic Nilfgaardian “Ballsack” Armor alternate look from the show. The best addition is the inclusion of a new side quest to unlock the new armor featured at the top (courtesy of IGN). But what exactly is the associated quest? Read on.

The Witcher Netflix DLC is a new scavenger hunt-style quest that takes place inside The Devil’s Pit in Velen. The Devil’s Pit, if you remember, is the place you find yourself immediately after leaving the starter zone of White Orchard. It’s that big, circular, wooden-fence-ringed place where nothing seems to actually happen. Currently, there are only some humanoid enemies in there and it acts like the training / loot farming place for players. But the big door to the mine inside is closed. This DLC will open those doors and allow you to hunt the armor.

As per the info we have received, the DLC is enjoyable but don’t get your hopes up for something super substantial. It’s just one quest and the mines are spooky and the showdown at the end is memorable, but it’s about half-an-hour’s worth, plus a bit more for a follow-up step. It was flagged as level 15 for the source and in a classic Witcher 3 fashion, there are a few different ways it can end depending on the choices you make. The crafting diagram you’re rewarded for finishing it is the Forgotten Wolven Gear, which looks like Henry Cavill’s armor from the first season of The Witcher on Netflix. As per Philipp Weber, if you upgrade the armor to its master-crafted version, its appearance changes to the look of Cavill’s armor from season two.

Moreover, the voice actors of Geralt including Doug Cockle are also back to voice whatever story/ hunt this new DLC update brings with it. “We just thought if we’re offering all those new armors, swords, items that we just want to make it feel a bit more part of the game, and of course if it’s a cool armor, as with other armors in the game there should be some quest or content connected to it. So we tried to make a quest that makes it part of the game.” said CDPR during announcement.

So, that’s pretty much all there is to the Netflix inspired DLC. There are some other hidden surprises in the next-gen update that won’t be detailed in the patch notes, including some new animations for Geralt and, more importantly, his horse Roach. “So we hid lots of new secrets and lots of new little details that we want people to find,” said Philip Weber. Geralt now snatches herbs from plants, for example. Guess it would be fun to check out all these changes for yourself when it arrives on 14th December 2022!
