The Witcher 3 Next Gen Update – Every New Feature, Graphics, DLC, Cross Save and More!

7 years ago came a video game which shook the world of gaming to its core. Yes, we’re talking about The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt by CD Projekt Red which was the third game in the epic Witcher trilogy. Even as of 2022, we can say that Witcher 3 is one of the best RPG games of all time as well as one of the best games overall. Now the winner of over 1000 awards is back to rock the world of gaming once again as The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Next Gen Update for your PS5 and XBox Series X/S is now barely 20 days away! CDPR shared the Next-Gen update trailer a few days ago and today we have some detailed update for you guys!

Witcher 3 Next Gen Visual Improvements

Everyone who has played Witcher 3 knows that its graphics can give even many of the modern games run for their money. But with this next-gen update those graphics would look even smoother, sharper and incredible that they were. The visual improvements include:

• Ray Tracing
• Improved Screen Space Reflections
• Improved foliage
• Better textures
• FSR 2.1 and DLSS 3 support

Camera, controls and UI changes + Photo Mode

Rediscover the Continent from a new perspective as CDPR has added an alternative camera option that’ll bring you closer to the action. Combined with the alternative Quick Sign Casting option, map filtering and the option to dynamically hide the minimap, it will make exploration of the Witcher world even more exciting than before. That aside, a new Photo Mode has been added so you can capture the moment you want to show off or some sceneries/shots you want to hold on forever. Also, CDPR has strongly hinted that there will be a The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt photo mode contest in the near future! So be ready for it!

Integrated mods and Quest Fixes

CDPR has shown their support to the mod community as they have included some community-made favourites in addition to their own modifications. Mods are a rising culture and while Rockstar Games have been shutting down GTA mods all year, CDPR has been quick to support them. Apart from that, the next-gen update has also been an opportunity to revisit some of the issues in the quests. The free next-gen update brings fixes to From Ofier’s Distant Shores, Scavenger Hunt: Wolf School Gear and many more quests which presented bugs and other technical issues to the gamers. As you may know, even though it is one of the best games ever made, it did have a lot of bugs when it first came out. Since then CDPR have worked tirelessly to fix these issues and make the game what it is today.

Cross-progression or Cross-Save Feature in Witcher 3

This is a feature you know from Cyberpunk 2077 where you can play the game how you like, wherever you like and carry over your latest save between platforms. This feature is already available between Nintendo Switch and PC since a few years, and fans have been waiting for it to hit other platforms. Now it has been confirmed that you’ll be able to carry on your saves between PlayStation 5, XBox Series X/S, PC, and Switch. Whether this feature applies to PlayStation 4 and XBox 360 is yet to be seen.

So, it seems like the numerous delays for this update and the long wait fans endured were totally worth it! The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Free Next Gen update is all set to hit PlayStation, PC, and XBox Series X/S on 14th December 2022.
