Mean Girls is the 2024 reboot of the 2004 Mark Waters directorial of the same name. The film was written by Tina Fey who also starred in it. As you know, the high school drama was one of the most influential films of the year. Many characters and moments from the 2004 original film are iconic in pop culture. Based on the film, a Broadway musical was also written. Cut to twenty years later, Tina Fey has written a remake of her iconic film and she has added one amazing element to it… what? Dance numbers. Yes, the remake is  a musical. The film has been in theatres for a long time now and we now have a digital release date.

Mean Girls 2024 Digital Debut Is Just Around The Corner!

A new listing on dvdreleasedates confirms that Mean Girls (2024) will be available for purchase or rent on digital and VOD platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple iTunes and Vudu from February 20th, 2024. This means that the film will have an exclusive theatrical run of 39 days. Since, the movie is distributed by Paramount Pictures this theatre to digital window seems apt.

Mean Girls isn’t a huge IP like Mission Impossible that will yield unprecedented numbers globally. The original film earned only $130.1 million worldwide and the remake has earned even less – $92 million. However, this doesn’t mean that the 2024 remake is a box office failure. Made on a budget of $36 million, Mean Girls 2024 is a box office success.

In fact, the online debut of the film has been postponed. Originally, the film was supposed to debut digitally a week earlier, on February 13th. I’m not aware why it was delayed but I think it is to capitalize on a longer and more exclusive theatrical run.

The 2024 Mean Girls stars Angourie Rice, Reneé Rapp, Auli’i Cravalho, Christopher Briney, Jaquel Spivey Bebe Wood, Avantika Vandanapu, Brian Altemus, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, Jon Hamm, Ashley Park, Mahi Alam and Connor Ratliff.
