In the ever expanding world of MCU, comes a new Disney Plus series called Ms. Marvel. The teenage superhero drama will showcase Marvel’s latest superhero who might later join the Young Avengers. It will be the 7th Disney Plus MCU series preceded by Moon Knight and followed by She-Hulk. Here’s all you need to know about this upcoming series which is all set to debut next month.
News – Laura Karpman Will Compose Ms. Marvel
The new Marvel miniseries Ms. Marvel, which is all set to premiere on the streaming service Disney+, has recruited its composer. Laura Karpman, who scored the animated “What If…?” series is set to compose the score for Ms.Marvel. Karpman is a five-time Emmy winner who also recently scored music for HBO’s “Lovecraft Country”. She’s also roped in to compose score for ”The Marvels”, set to release in 2023. Karpman shared her experience about being a part of Ms.Marvel.
“I am thrilled to be a part of a wonderfully diverse team that is bringing Kamala Khan off the pages of her comic book and into your homes this June. She is an epic superhero hailing from a rich musical heritage that was a joy to be immersed in.”
Ms. Marvel: Release Date, Plot Cast
Ms. Marvel is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 8 and reportedly consists of six episodes. Bisha K.Ali, serves as the show runner. Iman Vellani, a Canadian actress is cast in the lead role of Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, making her onscreen debut. She’s also set to reprise her role in the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels, along with other cast members of the show. The official plot description of Ms.Marvel is as the follows.
“Kamala Khan, a fangirl of the Avengers, particularly Carol Denvers/Captain Marvel struggles to fit in until she gains her own powers.”
Vellani plays the lead role Kamala. a 16-year old Pakistani-American high school student from Jersey City who is an aspiring artist, avid gamer, and a fan-fiction writer about superheroes, especially Carol Denvers. She gains the ability to harness cosmic energy and create constructs from a magical bangle.
In the Comics, Ms.Marvel can alter the size of her hands in combat, resembling the elasticity power of Mr.Fantastic. She can also grow or shrink like Hank Pym and Scott Lang, in addition to completely alter her body, face and hair for disguises. Though mortal, she also possess superhuman healing abilities. As seen from the trailer, the show changed her abilities, making them more close to Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau. This is because Ms. Marvel abilities were so different from both of them, and the creators decided to buff her powers so that they easily team up in The Marvels.
