The Flash Season 9 Slated To Air In 2023

According to Deadline, when star Grant Gustin signed a one-year deal capping his Season 9 involvement at 15 episodes, rumours that it would be the show’s last chapter began to circulate in January. The Flash has never been absent from The CW’s fall lineup, except for the network’s pandemic fall 2020 roster dominated by acquisitions. The CW revealed in May that the upcoming season will be held for midseason.

The Flash executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace remarked, “Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Central City while taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humour, and spectacle. And now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his last race. So many amazing people have given their talents, time, and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So, as we get ready to honour the show’s incredible legacy with our exciting final chapter, I want to say thank you to our phenomenal cast, writers, producers, and crew over the years who helped make The Flash such an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”

The 13-episode midseason order would place The Flash’s series finale just a few weeks before the June 23 release of the film adaptation of the same name from Warner Bros., starring Ezra Miller in the titular role. According to sources, the series finale is anticipated to wrap up its plot without in any way setting up the film.

The Flash has remained one of the CW’s top shows after dominating the network for the first half of its run. Season 8 of The Flash finished as one of the network’s most-watched series of the 2021–22 season with 1.03 million viewers and was among its most streamed shows on digital platforms.
