“For much of the time, the Love and Thunder audience will extract as much fun as the cast seem to be having (if that is possible).”

– Donald Clarke, Irish Times – 3/5

“Love and Thunder” doesn’t take itself seriously, employing soap opera-like acting and gags throughout. The more dramatic scenes are set apart in their tone and coloring, which has striking results.”

– Kimi Robinson, Arizona Republic – 3/5

“Overall, the mixed result of [Taika] Waititi’s brand of zany action-comedy is a step down from Thor: Ragnarok [but] it does retain a few worthwhile fun and dramatic moments throughout its nearly two-hour length.”

– Casey Chong, Casey’s Movie Mania – 3/5

“The impressive mix of tones and styles that director Taika Waititi pulled off in “Thor: Ragnarok” largely fizzles in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which isn’t as funny as it wants to be, as stirring as it needs to be or romantic as it ought to be.”

– Brian Lowry, CNN.com

“[It advertises] itself so loudly as “Fun!” that it ceases to actually be fun. This is the way with Waititi, a gifted director who, now that he’s no longer required to wield a light touch, seems to have forgotten how to do so.”

– Stephanie Zacharek, TIME Magazine

“This could have been a difficult second album for Taika Waititi, who made his Marvel debut in considerable style with Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. Fat chance.”

– Ed Potton, Times(UK)

“Even with a few solid jokes and more than a few talented performers in its roster, Thor: Love and Thunder is glib in ways that suffocate all of its strengths, as well as the audience watching it.”

– Joshua Rivera, Polygon

It’s still too early to say how the film is going to be received by the critics and audience alike. But the current trend of reviews point Thor: Love and Thunder is a step down in quality from Waitit’s previous comic romp, Thor: Ragnarok
