Squid Game: Netflix Announces Real Life Squid Game!

Everyone is aware of Netflix’s recent struggle as their subscriber count is steadily dropping. Netflix’s recent show haven’t been able to garner the same success as they once used to. The Spanish drama Money Heist ending in 2021 and 2022 marking the end of Ozark- a Netflix juggernaut series, the streaming giant has only few shows to fall back on. Unfortunately, Stranger Things, the flagship show for Netflix will culminate in season 5, rendering Netflix in search for the next big thing. Having said that, it seems like Netflix has found its saving grace- Squid Game. Yes, the Korean drama that became a global sensation after debuting on Netflix and if there is one thing we know about Netflix is that it milks everything to its bone. For the first time Netflix is entering Reality TV by creating a Squid Game competition.

Squid Game Challenge: Cash prize at $4.56 million

This news comes to us just after the Squid Game season 2 announcement. The reality is to have an ensemble of 456 players with a lump sump cash prize of $4.56 million. Netflix boasts it as the biggest reality series in TV history, of course they do. Although, technically they’re not wrong. The series is supposed be ten episode and the network is looking for English speaking participants to enter in this created for life game. Yes, casting is open right now. You can try to get your name involved if you didn’t understand from the first season the violence capitalism causes. The link for the same SquidGameCasting.com

The announcement came the courtesy of Netflix TV’s global head Bella Bajaria at Banff World Media Festival on Thursday. For legal reasons of course, the worst outcome for any participant who enters in this competition would be going home broke rather than sliced into pieces. That being said, Squid Game still sits on the throne of most watched TV series for Netflix. It had 1.65 billion view hours in the first month of its release.  The writer-director of the show- Hwang Dong Hyuk, recently stated, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever”

Yesterday Netflix announced the news on YouTube by releasing an announcement video. If you were a fan of the first season then this would come to you as icing on the cake as the second season was announced recently as well. If you believe the writer-director, the second season is going to expand on the world created by the first rather than creating something new. Many new characters will be introduced, some old ones will come back. Squid Game season 2 sounds amazing as far as the Reality TV series is concerned its in early stages with only casting just opening up.
