The Movie Critic: Quentin Tarantino Reveals His Casting Choice

If you’re reading a film related article, I assume you’re familiar with Quentin Tarantino. The man is one of the most unique talents in Hollywood, the style and storylines that he makes cannot be replicated. Tarantino reinvented the game with Pulp Fiction. While many consider it his best film, I strongly believe it is Inglorious Basterds that his best film. The filmmaker at the start of his career had made a big statement that he would only make 10 movies in his career and then retire. For many years fans have been dreading the moment where the filmmaker would make his final film and with 2019’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood the time had come. Four years later, Tarantino announced that he would end his entire career with The Movie Critic and today he has revealed casting preferences.

The Movie Critic: Quentin Tarantino Doesn’t Want To Cast British Actors!

In a recent interview with Deadline, Quentin Tarantino was asked about whether his last The Movie Critic will have Leonardo Di Caprio and Brad Pitt who have been his recent collaborators. Tarantino answered the question with a lot of candice. The filmmaker revealed, “I haven’t decided yet but it’s going to be somebody in the 35 year-old ball park. It’ll definitely be a new leading man for me. I do have an idea of somebody I can imagine doing it really well.”

He further went onto explain his rather radical stance about the casting, “No. The truth of the matter is, yes, obviously, a Brit could pull it off, but I don’t want to cast a Brit. Obviously, nothing against the Brits, but we’re living in a really weird time now. I think when people look back on this era of cinema and it’s just all these British actors pretending to be Americans and all these Australian actors pretending to be Americans, it’s like phantoms. Nobody is acting in their own voice.”

The filmmaker concluded with, “We just happen to be in an era of really, really good British actors who for the most part can pull it off. By the way, I’m not being xenophobic. The Brits would have a hell of a lot more problems if a bunch of American actors came over there with their Dick Van Dyke [Mary Poppins] accents playing famous Brits. They don’t want to see that s–t.”

The Movie Critic doesn’t have a release date yet.
