Black Panther: Wakanda Forever trailer promises an emotional and handcrafted film. The film looks like a somber and cerebral affair along with being an action-heavy adventure with vivid colors. Needless, to say the film already looks way better than any Marvel content that we’ve gotten this year. I have full faith in Coogler to provide us with an emotional, heartbreaking, layered and an old school Marvel film. The film will cover the aftermath of T’Challa’s death. The film will see characters like Shuri, Queen Ramonda, Nakia, Okoye and M’Baku returning from the first film. However, along with returning characters there is another question that haunts the film. Who will be the next Black Panther.

While the trailers hinted at Shuri being the new Black Panther we were not sure because there were many rumors and and speculation that there are more than one Black Panthers in the film. However, all these questions that we have will only be answered when the film releases next week. Before the film releases there is one thing regarding the film that is very astounding. That is the film’s budget. The film is made on an enormous budget which promises a huge adventure ride.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’s Production Budget is Astounding!

Every Phase 4 MCU movie has been a costly affair and I can’t say the same about the returns. Most of the films have a budget of at least $200 Million except for Shang Chi that was made in $150 Million. So it was obvious that the Black Panther sequel won’t be any different. However, now that the official budget is out it is certainly head scratching as it is much more than I expected .The film’s production budget is $250 Million, this is barring marketing. For reference, Thor: Love and Thunder had a total budget of $250 Million.

This figure also makes the film the most expensive film ever made with a Black lead surpassing 2012’s Men in Black 3 which was made on a budget of $215 Million followed by Black Panther which had a budget of $200 Million. Wakanda Forever’s leading role will be filled by Letitia Wright as Shuri, with Angela Bassett (Ramonda), Danai Gurira (Okoye), and Winston Duke (M’Baku) serving in key supporting roles.

The top five budgets for movies with a Black lead can be seen below:

  1. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever – $250M
  2. Men in Black 3 – $215M
  3. Black Panther – $200M
  4. Hobbs and Shaw – $200M
  5. Tenet – $200M

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is slated to release on 11th November 2022.
